Web Hosting Brand Names

We’ve been compiling information here about web hosting companies for a number of years and it has never ceased to impress me how creative the people at those companies have been in terms of being able to find interesting brand names and make them work for web hosting. Of course you will find the BlueHost.com’s of the world with a simple yet effective domain name which says enough about what the company does but does not try to aggrandize their reach.

Other interesting domains for web hosts include iPowerweb, which was shortend to iPower, even though iPowerweb and iPower are both still in the market. HostGator is a great domain name as is HostMonster. Globat.com, now here is a name that doesn’t make alot of sense, even when you learn the meaning behind the name. Gate.com is a web host which used to have another name that the owners decided to change it to Gate probably because they thought a 1 word domain would do better in marketing, We’ve watched their stats and there has been no effective jump.

Lunarpages, here is a name that does not make alot of sense to web hosting but the company has a great reputation and does well. Aplus.net, great name, medium hosting provider. ApolloHosting, great name and decent web hosting provider. Other names that are related like Register.com for a domain name registrar, excellent and a company that does well, and probably the strangest and most successful domain / hosting company name GoDaddy.com, good hosting company, better domain registrar and a successful brand.
