I’ve finished setting up my webhosting and domain registration site after hours of work over the past days. Check it out at www.rgnethosting.com.

To improve my website’s visibility I also signed up for Google AdWords. This has given me useful insight into the details of how marketing using Google works. Their cost-per-click is indeed a novel way of charging for advertising and a very effective way of reaching both novice, small-scale entrepreneurs to big multinational companies. One of the problems faced by our local site administrators, entrepreneurs or bloggers is accessibility to cheap webhosting and the ability to pay for it in the local currency. This, in turn, prevents them from capturing a broader audience or reaching more customers for their products. Majority of hosting or domain registration sites are paid for using International credit cards like Visa or MasterCard. I’d like to work on bridging this gap.

Our country has a wealth of potential since we have so much to offer. We have a huge IT workforce (it won’t be long ’til one of them will come up with the next killer web app that will be recognized worldwide like Google, YouTube or Friendster). We have a huge English-speaking community capable of producing content and spreading (writing) about our beautiful culture, our geography and tourist destinations. Our agricultural produce, skilfully crafted indigenous products and artistic designs could still be harnessed by a bigger market if we only have easier access to them.

But looking ahead, I am very optimistic about the future.
