Upgrade Wordpress; Hostmonster To The Rescue |

Hello all,
I just went through the process of upgrading my wordpress blog from the default install version of 2.3.3 to 2.5, and messed up a few things (this being my first time).
- Biggest mistake:- took up the task by myself, without first reading the excellent documentation for wordpress upgrade.
- Backed up the files on the filesystem, but completely forgot about the db.
- When I tried logging in to the wp-admin, it gave me a message saying that the db needs to be upgraded and please be patient. The “please be patient” message conveyed (somewhat wrongly) that the upgrade is being done, and that I didn’t need to do anything. But even after 30+ mins, when I was still getting the same message, I knew something was wrong.
- So I searched on Yahoo! for solutions, and found the above link. However, I was already in a mess by the time I reached step 4, because now there was no way for me to disable the plugins. I was unable to even login to the wp-admin page, so how would i disable plugins.
- This is where the excellent “fantastico” plugin of hostmonster comes into play. I simply went to fantastico, where it showed me a link to click to upgrade the wordpress db. I pressed it, followed a few “next’s” and voila, my blog is working again; and here I am writing my experience about it!
I am really liking hostmonster, till now atleast
