The RAP Method To Internet Marketing: Reading, Action, Persistence

When I took a day off last week for a little time off from the ol ‘puter, I had a chance to look back over the last 2 months. I wanted to analyze exactly how I was able to increase traffic to one website by 100% and to the other site by 300%.

Here’s what I came up with.

This had as much to do with my dedication than it had to do with what tools I utilized to accomplish this feat. The title to this article explains quite succinctly what my “process” is: Read, Act, Persist.

Now listen to this closely: if you have what I call “buyitis”, that is, you buy every new book or program that comes around, yet you really don’t try to implement anything…..what’s the point? And if you don’t implement anything, why not?

Fear and lack of knowledge is why not (in my humble opinion). LOL

So, let’s change your ‘normal’ pattern. As many of the marketing pros have already said, it’s important to promote something you are passionate about. Then…

Take Action!

First, and most importantly, utilize a niche analysis tool to determine if your niche idea has the potential for success. Don’t skip this step - it will save you time and increase your chance for success. Don’t be so emotionally tied to a niche you think MIGHT be successful. Consider a niche, do your homework to determine if the niche has potential. Market Samurai is a good tool to use to analyze your chosen niche. I use this product on a daily basis.

Buy a domain name which contains a targeted keyword. If your niche is “refrigerators”, then buy a domain name which contains the word

Find a hosting company that supports WordPress.

Put up a simple WordPress blog about something you know and then write daily. If you don’t add fresh content regularly, Google will not pour its blessings out on you by raising your website’s position.

Learn how to drive traffic to your blog. (More about this in a future blog - believe me, this topic needs a blog article of its very own!)

Place Adsense or other advertising on your blog. Sign up for a Google account and then read all of their information about the Adsense program. Sign up for a YouTube account. Why? Once you sign up, type in the word “Adsense” and you will find terrific videos explaining how to use this program.

Will the money flow in automatically? No, it won’t. You have to work at this everyday.

Persistence will pay off. Make a commitment of time everyday, even if its only 1 hour and a commitment to change as the Internet changes.
