I’m brand new to bluehost. I just started my own site and I’ve obviously bought way over my head in terms of what I can do with the site, it’s just for a personal hobby. I keep trying to put up a temporary web page to my site but when I go to it directly (www.unrequited-love.com) I keep getting the white screen saying Index, listing some files, etc. I just don’t understand where to put my folders/files. I”ve put them in folders and files all over the place. Can someone help?

What I do understand tolerably well:
how to use filezilla in a general way
ftp protocol to connect to my site
I can see my folder/file system and move around in it

What I do not understand:
What folder or area to attach or place my website pages
How to continue to put new files/folders onto my site for others to see

I wish to change my domain name and let the old domain expire at the end of my present contract with BlueHost (270 days). I will continue hosting with BlueHost but with a new domain name.

Please let me know how to set up a new domain name, while keeping the old active, and set up forwarding from the old domain name to the new one.

Setelah searching sana sini cari cara buat setting A Record Godaddy akhirnya kemaren siang terselesaikan. Kenapa sempet pusing?

Karena dari setiap artikel yang di refer sama om google, step by step howtonya cuma dikasi tau kurang lebih begini

To Manage Your DNS

  1. Login to your account manager
  2. In the My Product section click Domain Manager
  3. Click the domain name which you want to access the Total DNS Control
  4. In the details section click Total DNC Control an MX Records

Ga salah sih karena emang prosedurnya seperti itu, tapi buat yang belum tau faktor paling penting ky aku nie ya jelas bakalan pusing 7 keliling. Apa sih faktor pentingnya? Ini nih yang harus dibaca

If you use our nameservers for your domain, Total DNS Control allows you to perform advanced DNS functions, such as changing your zone records. You can add, edit, and delete records and copy records from one domain to another. Use Advanced or Wizard mode to make your changes, whichever works best for you. You can modify A records, CNAMES, MX records, TXT records, SRV records, and AAAA records.

Nah, dah jelas kan

Jadi tips buat setting A record dan temen-temennya godaddy pastikan NS servernya pake godaddy ga pake NS hosting laen, atau ga pake NS tempat parkir, thats all.

Kalo kebetulan NSnya dah diarahin ke hosting laen (biasanya ada yang diarahin ke tempat parkir kek Sedo), tinggal rubah aja di menu my domain, caranya:

  1. Login Godaddy
  2. di tab Domain, pilih My Domain
  3. klik domain yng mau kita setting, kita akan diarahin ke detail domain tsb
  4. nah tinggal pilih menu NameServer
  5. kalo radio button yg dipilih masih Costum Nameservers, langsung aja ganti, pilih Hosting

Demikian, sedikit kisah iwan dalam melakukan setting A record, cuma buat jadiin domain godaddy itu sebagai addon domain nuriwan.com, jadi pake hostingnya barengan. Biar g repot kalo ngotak-ngatik.

Any further question please ask the gurus
